LNP formulation calculator
Find lipids by name or DC catalog number, or enter your own molecular weights. Set the molar ratios and batch size to calculate how much of each lipid to weigh.
Your ratios. Your batch.
1. Lipid components and molar ratio
MW in g/mol · all values editableType a name or catalog number and choose a match. For a custom lipid, enter a name (optional), molecular weight and molar ratio.

Ratios do not have to add up to 100. Enter mol% in the same fields; both are normalized automatically.
2. Choose the batch basis
One calculation mode at a timeThe molar ratio and molecular weights determine how the total mass is divided.
Each component amount equals total amount × normalized mol fraction.
Use total lipid concentration, not RNA concentration. mM × mL gives μmol; mg/mL × mL gives mg.
3. Weighing amounts
Updates automaticallyBased on 100 mg total lipid mass
| Component | Input ratio | Normalized mol% | Amount (μmol) | Weigh (mg) | Mass fraction |

Mole fraction xᵢ = rᵢ / Σr. Mixture average MW = Σ(xᵢ × MWᵢ). For a total mass M (mg), component mass mᵢ = M × rᵢ × MWᵢ / Σ(r × MW). Component amount (μmol) = 1000 × mᵢ / MWᵢ. A zero-ratio row is excluded.
Catalog molecular weights are starting values and remain editable. Changing the lipid clears its previous molecular weight. Use the molecular weight for your exact compound, salt or material. All calculations run in your browser.
PEG lipids are often polydisperse. Use the molecular weight stated for the exact product or batch rather than assuming every “PEG2000” material has the same value.
The result covers lipid component weights only. It does not calculate RNA mass, N/P ratio, buffer, ethanol volume, flow-rate ratio, encapsulation efficiency or process loss.
